Three Kingston Men Arrested for Broadway Mugging, ATM Withdrawal

Three Kingston men were charged with robbery after forcing a man off Broadway, stealing his wallet and phone, and withdrawing cash using his debit card PIN.

Three men from Kingston, New York, have been arrested in connection with a robbery in which a victim was forced off a public street, robbed of his belongings and had cash withdrawn from his bank account, hudsonvalleyone.com reports.

Mickael S. Spiecker, 40, Shareal N. Brown, 27, and Dustin G. VanEtten, 27, were taken into custody on September 21 and charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.

According to Kingston police, the incident began at approximately 4:45 a.m. on September 20, when the three men approached a person walking near a Broadway store. The suspects forced the victim into a secluded area off Broadway and took his wallet and cellphone. Two of the men reportedly held the victim while the third used his debit card and PIN to withdraw cash from a nearby ATM.

When the third man returned, the group attempted to move the victim to a second location. The victim managed to escape, reached safety and contacted 911.

Officers located and arrested all three men following a brief investigation. They were processed at Kingston police headquarters, arraigned in Ulster County CAP Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail.

Police noted that Spiecker and Brown were on parole for prior burglary convictions at the time of the alleged offence, while VanEtten was out on bail related to a previous robbery charge.

The charges against all three defendants are accusations. They are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
