Major crime detectives in Victoria are investigating after a body was found inside a burning vehicle early Tuesday morning, cp24.com reports.

A Victoria Police Department officer spotted the burning car in the 700 block of Queens Avenue at around 7 a.m. while heading to work. The officer called 911, and firefighters extinguished the blaze shortly after arriving on scene.

Police have not released details about the victim or the vehicle involved. "VicPD cannot release further details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is in its early stage," the department said in a statement.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or images from the area between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. to come forward — particularly those with dash-cam footage recorded along Douglas or Blanshard streets. The surrounding area was closed to traffic for several hours while investigators worked the scene.
