Chatham-Kent Police on alert after Kingston prison escape

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is actively monitoring the situation following the escape of Mason Jenkins from a correctional institution in Kingston, ctvnews.ca reported Friday.

Jenkins has known connections to the Chatham-Kent area, and local officers are co-operating closely with partner agencies to track down and apprehend him.

"The safety of our residents remains our top priority, and we are committed to taking all reasonable steps to support public safety while assisting our policing partners in their efforts to locate and apprehend the individual," the service said in a statement.

Precautionary measures have been put in place as a direct response to the escape, with the service stating its focus remains on public safety.
