A man sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds in broad daylight in North York on Monday afternoon, cp24.com reports.
The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Jane Street and Finch Avenue West, according to Toronto police. Officers arriving at the scene found a male victim with gunshot wounds; he was subsequently transported to a local trauma centre. His identity has not been released.
A skateboard, surrounded by police markers, was visible at the scene during the investigation. No suspect information has been made available.
Several roads in the area were closed as a result of the incident. Eastbound lanes on Finch Avenue West are closed at Elana Drive, while westbound lanes are closed at Driftwood Avenue. Southbound Jane Street is closed at San Romanoway and northbound Jane Street at Yewtree Boulevard.
TTC officials confirmed there is no Line 6 LRT service between Norfinch Oakdale and Driftwood stations. Shuttle buses are operating as a replacement.
