RCMP seizes over 2,000 lbs. of cannabis from B.C. man on Saskatchewan highway

A 56-year-old man from Rosedale, B.C. was arrested near Maple Creek after RCMP found nearly 2,000 lbs. of cannabis, hashish, and THC resin in his vehicle.

A 56-year-old man from Rosedale, British Columbia, was arrested on September 4 near Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, after RCMP officers discovered more than 2,000 lbs. of illegal cannabis in his vehicle, Global News Crime reports.

Members of the RCMP's roving traffic unit pulled over an eastbound vehicle on Highway 1 for a Saskatchewan Vehicle Safety Equipment Regulations violation. A search of the vehicle turned up 1,928 lbs. of dried cannabis, 56 lbs. of hashish, and 15 litres of THC resin.

The driver had been travelling from British Columbia to Ontario when he was stopped. He was arrested at the scene.

The man now faces one count of possession of illicit cannabis for the purpose of distribution, one count of possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, and two counts of possession of an illicit cannabis derivative for the purpose of distribution.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Maple Creek on January 14.
