Two homicide victims found in burnt vehicles across Toronto

Toronto police have confirmed that two people found in burnt-out vehicles at opposite ends of the city are homicide victims, Global News Crime reports.

Investigators announced the development Friday and identified one victim as Marcus Charles, 32. The second victim's identity has not yet been released.

Police received calls for both incidents within hours of each other late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. The first call came in at approximately 11:24 p.m., when officers were dispatched to a hydro field on Reesor Road, near Steeles Avenue East, following reports of a vehicle on fire. Crews arriving on scene discovered a body inside the burning vehicle. That victim was identified Friday as Charles.

Shortly after, at 12:55 a.m., police were called to James Garden Park in Etobicoke, where smoke was seen rising from the park and witnesses reported sounds consistent with an explosion. Officers found a second body inside a burning car at that location.

The investigation into both deaths remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them directly.
