Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant disappears from Victoria housing facility

Victoria police are seeking public assistance to locate Tristan Whitstone, 30, who walked away from a designated housing facility without authorization on the evening of September 15, vicnews.com reports.

Whitstone is described as 5'7" and 210 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and tattoos on his neck and forearms.

According to the Victoria Police Department, Whitstone is currently serving a federal sentence of two years, five months and 20 days for a range of offences. These include break and enter to steal a firearm, assault with intent, use of force, fleeing a peace officer on two separate occasions, unauthorized possession of a firearm, obstruction of a peace officer and failing to attend court.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police are asking anyone who spots Whitstone to call 911 immediately and not to approach him.

The investigation is being conducted under VicPD file 26-39381.
