90-day preventive detention for murder of 'El Hormiga' in Porongo
A judge ordered preventive detention for a suspected perpetrator in the homicide of José Luis Bravo Moreno, who was shot dead on 3 September in Villa Bonita.
Case 'El Hormiga': judge sends detainee to Palmasola for crime in Porongo
A judge of precautionary measures ordered on Sunday the 90-day preventive detention of one of the suspected perpetrators in the homicide of José Luis Bravo Moreno, 50 years old, known as 'El Hormiga', who was murdered on 3 September in the Villa Bonita area, municipality of Porongo in the Santa Cruz department, according to El Deber.
The detainee was transferred to Palmasola prison and faces investigation for the offences of attempted murder and obstruction of justice. The authorities have not ruled out the participation of other persons in the crime.
"There is information we are handling, and it is very likely that there are other persons involved," declared the Departmental Police Commander, Edson Fernández.
During the previous week, investigators carried out several operations and raids in search of other perpetrators. Bravo Moreno was inside his vehicle when he was attacked by gunfire.
The autopsy determined that he died as a result of hypovolaemic haemorrhagic shock after receiving four bullet impacts. His body was found on the evening of 3 September inside a Toyota Fortuner pickup truck parked in Villa Bonita, in the Urubó area.
On 4 September, fiscal Franz Delgadillo stated that the main hypothesis being pursued was a possible settling of accounts, without ruling out other lines of investigation. Delgadillo clarified that security cameras captured five persons who descended from two vehicles and were alleged to have lured Bravo Moreno to the location before the attack.
"Security cameras have captured five persons who descend from two vehicles, who are alleged to have brought this person to the place with the object of taking his life," the fiscal stated.
According to police information incorporated into the investigation, Bravo Moreno had a record for trafficking in controlled substances, as well as cases involving aggravated robbery, domestic violence and reckless driving. The Office of the Fiscal continues working to clarify the circumstances of the crime and identify all those responsible.
