Deolane Bezerra becomes defendant in criminal case over alleged connection to PCC scheme
The magistracy in the city of Presidente Venceslau, located in western São Paulo state, received and accepted the accusatory motion prepared by prosecutors, formally making social media personality Deolane Bezerra a defendant. The case proceeds under suspicion of involvement in money laundering activities and association for criminal purposes with connections to the PCC. The judicial decision was made public in mid-June, approximately four weeks after the defendant's preventive detention.
The detention occurred on 21 May at a residence in Barueri, in the metropolitan region of the São Paulo capital. The measure was part of an investigation coordinated between investigators from the state police force and members of Gaeco, a body specialising in tackling organised crime. The investigative work indicated the circulation of resources in the region of twenty million reais in that interior municipality, possibly channelled through a transport company with alleged links to the faction.
Following arrest, the woman initially remained in a women's prison unit in the North Zone of the capital, being transferred the following day to a penitentiary in Tupi Paulista. Since then, she has been serving preventive detention in a single cell with an area of nine square metres. The defence team attempted to secure a transfer to another unit or the substitution of preventive imprisonment with home detention, without success.
During interrogation conducted on 27 May, the investigated party exercised her right to remain silent, advised by her legal representative and accompanied by a sister who is also a lawyer. At the end of the month, the police report was completed, resulting in the indictment of the influencer and six other individuals. Among them are Marco Willians Herbas Camacho — known as Marcola, alleged leader of the faction — his relatives and a man identified as the financial manager of the group.
The prosecutorial charge was filed ten days later. The public prosecutor's office emphasised that legislation does not permit home detention in situations involving criminal gangs that employ violent methods.
