A 44-year-old man was arrested by the Civil Police on Thursday (4) in Cravolândia, suspected of attempted homicide motivated by a dispute over the return of a mobile phone charger, according to extra.globo.com.
The crime occurred on 12 February this year at a farm in the rural zone of Jiquiriçá. The victim, Elielson Oliveira dos Santos, aged 33, allegedly demanded the return of the charger, which triggered the conflict.
According to the Civil Police, the suspect, who was under the influence of alcohol, invaded Elielson's residence armed with a machete following the dispute. The case was then classified as attempted homicide.
The preventive detention warrant was executed as part of Operation Malhas da Lei by teams from the Territorial Police Station of Jiquiriçá, with support from the Technical and Tactical Support Group for Investigation (Gatti/Leste), linked to the 4th Regional Co-ordination of Interior Police (Coorpin), in Santo Antônio de Jesus.
The judicial order was issued by the Criminal Court of the Municipality of Ubaíra. Following his detention, the suspect was sent to the Department of Technical Police (DPT) for routine examinations and remains at the disposal of the Justice system.
