35-year-old woman stabbed to death in east São Paulo; boyfriend under investigation
Geisa Soares, 35, was found dead in the early hours of Sunday (5) inside a property located on Avenida Miguel Ignácio Curi, in the neighbourhood of Artur Alvim, in the east zone of the São Paulo capital. Her partner, a 31-year-old man, is identified as a suspect in the crime.
The Military Police were called to the scene and the victim was taken to Hospital Santa Marcelina, but did not survive the injuries caused by stab wounds.
The case was registered as femicide at the 24th Police District (Ponte Rasa). Forensic examination was initiated to carry out tests at the crime scene.
The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) confirmed that the victim's boyfriend is under investigation, although it provided no further details about the progress of the investigation.
The state of São Paulo recorded a fall in intentional homicides in May this year, with 163 cases compared to 190 in the same month of 2025, a reduction of 14.2%. Femicides also declined in the period: there were 18 registered cases in May 2026 compared to 26 in May of the previous year, a decline of 31%.
However, in the accumulated total from January to May, femicides still exceed the figures from the previous year: 125 cases in 2026 compared to 107 in 2025. The São Paulo interior concentrates the largest proportion of these crimes, with 85 deaths of women for reasons of gender this year.
