The Civil Police of Paraná confirmed on Monday (6) that Antônio Buscariollo, 66, and Paulo Ricardo Costa Buscariollo, 22, have been added to Interpol's global capture alert. The pair are accused of carrying out the execution of four people in Icaraíma, in the north-western region of the state, and have had no known whereabouts for almost a year.
The official in charge of the investigation, delegate Thiago Andrade, reported that the red notice request was submitted to the judiciary by the police force itself. In the request, the police committed to promoting the extradition of the accused should they be found outside Brazil.
The crime occurred in August last year, when four men travelled from São Paulo to Paraná to receive R$ 255,000 relating to a farm transaction. The group — comprising Robishley Hirnani de Oliveira, Rafael Juliano Marascalchi, Diego Henrique Afonso and Alencar Gonçalves de Souza — was last filmed in a bakery on the 5th of that month.
In September, local officers located the group's vehicle buried in a wooded area, following an anonymous tip. The vehicle showed signs of violence. Days later, the remains of the four victims were exhumed a few metres away, with perforations consistent with firearm projectiles.
Father and son were initially questioned by the police authority, but after being released, fled together with relatives who shared the same residence. Since then, there has been no news of their whereabouts.
Lawyer Renan Farah, who represents the two, criticised their inclusion in the international search system. According to him, appeals regarding temporary arrest are still pending and the defence has not been able to gain full access to the case documents.
