On Thursday morning, a man attacked and wounded three people with a stabbing weapon at Winterthur railway station, near Zurich. Swiss authorities are treating the incident as a terrorist act.

According to investigators, the attacker allegedly shouted "Allahu akbar" in Arabic during the attack. "I am describing this incident as a terrorist attack," said Mario Fehr, who is responsible for the security of Canton Zurich. He added that the information gathered at the scene indicates that the motive should be sought in the area of radicalisation and extremism.

The attack took place at a railway station near Zurich. Security authorities are operating on the assumption that the perpetrator acted from radical Islamist motives.
