126 kilograms of ketamine in Limassol: four arrests over trafficking from Israel

According to m.kathimerini.com.cy, a criminal group of Israelis and persons of Arab origin is alleged to have used luxury vessels to transport narcotics from Israel to Cyprus, via marinas and ports in Larnaca and Limassol. New details in the case were revealed on Sunday before the Limassol District Court.
Four suspects were brought to court—two couples of Israeli and Palestinian nationals—against whom eight-day detention orders were issued. The defence solicitors did not lodge an objection to the police's request.
The narcotics were transported camouflaged as building materials and hygiene products, and were subsequently stored in residences. The police had secured judicial search warrants for residences, premises and vehicles from 10 September.
Ketamine, cocaine and other drugs
During a search of a residence belonging to a 53-year-old Israeli, with the presence of his 51-year-old wife and a 50-year-old Israeli, 34 grams of cocaine, 246.5 grams of ketamine, 15 grams of mephedrone and 12 grams of MDMA were seized. Also found were 4,150 euros, 42 packets of duty-free cigarettes, mobile telephones and other evidence.
The largest quantity was discovered in a second residence, where a 50-year-old Palestinian lives with his 35-year-old wife. There, 126 kilograms and 630 grams of ketamine were found, hidden inside paint containers. At the same house, precision scales, mobile telephones and other items were also seized.
Investigations by the police continue both regarding the route and method of importation of the narcotics into Cyprus, and the possible involvement of further persons in the case.
