On 3 June, police from the Western Police Department arrested a 19-year-old man from Ukraine in Haapsalu. He is suspected of collecting money from a fraud victim, according to Uudis.net.

The incident began on the same day around midday, when a man living in Haapsalu received a call in which someone posed as a healthcare worker. The caller asked for personal data to arrange a booking. Later, another caller telephoned the same person, claiming to be a law enforcement officer. This "official" stated that the previous call was part of a fraud and offered to help the victim catch the perpetrator. To do this, the man was asked to hand over money so that it could be "kept safe".

The Ukrainian is suspected of appearing at the scene and accepting the money. The rescue service is asking anyone who has suffered harm because of this young man to write to [email protected].
