The Versailles Court of Appeal has confirmed the committal of footballer Achraf Hakimi to the assizes court for alleged rape offences committed in February 2023.

The Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed on Friday 19 June 2026 the decision to commit Achraf Hakimi to the assizes court for rape offences. The Paris Saint-Germain player and captain of the Moroccan national team is the subject of an accusation dating from February 2023.
It was an investigating magistrate who had ordered this committal at the end of February 2026. The 27-year-old defender then appealed, but the higher court validated the procedure.
On social media, the player reacted by stating that he had been waiting for this trial since day one and was pleased to finally be able to speak before the courts.
The facts date back to February 2023, a period during which the athlete and his alleged victim were each 24 years old. According to the account given by the young woman, she had met the player via Instagram. He is said to have put a vehicle with a driver at her disposal to take her to his home. There, she claims she was forced into sexual intercourse without consent. She then reportedly left the premises with the help of a friend, whom she contacted by message.
During the investigation, Achraf Hakimi was placed under judicial supervision before being formally committed to the assizes.
His lawyer, Me Fanny Colin, contests the complainant's version. She contends that the accusation rests solely on the word of a woman who, in her view, is obstructing the investigation. The lawyer claims that the latter allegedly attempted to conceal from the magistrates exchanges with a friend in which they discussed a plan to extort money from the footballer.
The date of the trial before the assizes court has not yet been set.
