On Saturday, 15 August 2026, in broad daylight and in a public place in Cenon (Gironde), two children aged 11 and 12 were approached by a man armed with a pistol. According to TF1 Info, Bordeaux's public prosecutor's office confirmed on Wednesday morning that the individual had forced them "to remove their shoes before licking their feet".

The two victims alerted their parents, who immediately contacted the police. An investigation was opened immediately and entrusted to the Inter-departmental Directorate of the National Police of Gironde (DIPN33).

Investigators examined CCTV footage and quickly managed to identify the suspect. The man, aged 34, was arrested and placed in custody.

A search of his home yielded significant evidence. "The search carried out at the home made it possible to recover a handgun, the clothing worn on the day of the incidents, as well as several pairs of flip-flops including those of the two victims," the public prosecutor's office detailed to TF1 Info. Analysis of the digital media seized further made it possible to recover a video of the incidents, as well as other recordings likely to be of interest to the investigation.

At the end of his custody, the suspect was brought before an investigating judge on Saturday, 29 August 2026. He was placed in pre-trial detention, in accordance with the public prosecutor's office's submissions.

A judicial investigation was opened on charges of "sexual assault with a weapon against minors under 15 years of age", "sexual assault against minors under 15 years of age" and "extortion". Investigations are ongoing.
