Double knife murder in Drancy: 39-year-old man brought before judge
A 29-year-old woman and her two-month-old baby were killed in Drancy. A 39-year-old man, the victim's former partner, is appearing before a judge on Sunday.
Suspect brought before court after death of mother and infant in Drancy
According to TF1 Info, a 39-year-old man is to appear this Sunday before an investigating judge following the knife murder of a 29-year-old woman and her two-month-old daughter, committed Thursday in an apartment in Drancy, Seine-Saint-Denis.
The Bobigny prosecutor's office stated that the suspect had "formed a romantic relationship in the past" with the victim. Analysis of his telephone records made it possible to establish his presence near the scene at the time of the incidents. He had furthermore been arrested in possession of personal effects belonging to the mother.
The prosecutor's office is requesting his remand in custody. He is being brought before court "for the purpose of opening a judicial inquiry on the charges of murder by a person who was formerly the spouse of the victim and murder of a minor under 15 years of age", according to the same source. During his interrogations, the man denied any involvement in the incidents.
A second person had also been placed in police custody in connection with this case: the victim's ex-partner. He was released without any charges being brought against him.
The mother, born in Haiti, and her infant were discovered dead in their home by the victim's sister, who alerted the authorities after finding the bodies. Drancy is a town located north-east of Paris.
