According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), a 20-year-old man was killed and four other people wounded in a shooting that occurred shortly after midnight on rue d'Amiens in Marseille, according to the Agence France-Presse (AFP) citing judicial and police sources.
The gunman, a passenger on a two-wheeler, opened fire on people seated at the terrace of a bar. Among the four wounded, one is in a life-threatening condition. A wounded person, described as "apparently a minor" by the Marseille naval firefighters, fled the scene. The other three, aged 18 to 23, were hospitalised, two in critical condition.
The Marseille prosecutor's office announced to the AFP that it was opening "an investigation on charges of murder, attempted murder as an organised gang and criminal association".
Rue d'Amiens is located near the Bel Horizon housing estate, known to host several disputed drug-dealing points. Last Tuesday, in this same district, a man in his fifties had already been targeted by two individuals on scooters. Seriously wounded in the groin and arm, he was hospitalised in a life-threatening condition.
According to official data, narco-violence has claimed 17 lives in Marseille since the start of 2025, a figure in decline compared to previous years. Whilst drug-dealing points have substantially decreased in the northern districts of the city, they have proliferated in the city centre, notably around Gare Saint-Charles station, between the 1st and 3rd arrondissements.
At the start of the year, Marseille's prosecutor Nicolas Bessone had mentioned "a territorial war in the 3rd arrondissement between an organisation from this district and very firmly established and the criminal organisation hegemonically dominant in Marseille which has aspirations to enter it" — a formulation perceived as a direct allusion to the DZ Mafia.
