Femicide in Koungou: 22-year-old woman charged with aggravated murder of her partner
A 22-year-old woman has been charged and remanded in custody following the death of her 25-year-old partner in Koungou, Mayotte.

According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), the Mamoudzou Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday 28 August that a 22-year-old woman had been charged with aggravated murder, two days after the death of her partner in the Plateau neighbourhood in Koungou, Mayotte.
The body of the victim, aged 25 and with no criminal record, was found on Wednesday 26 August, presenting multiple wounds caused by a bladed weapon. According to the Public Prosecutor's statement published Friday evening, an argument that occurred in the early afternoon that same day is believed to have triggered the incident.
"From the initial elements of the investigation, it appears that the suspect, who was living with the victim in a concubine relationship, wrapped a scarf around the victim's neck, then inflicted several blows with this bladed weapon," states the Mamoudzou Public Prosecutor's Office.
The suspect has been remanded in custody at Majicavo-Koropa prison. She has been granted time to prepare her defence. A judicial investigation has moreover been opened "in order to determine precisely the circumstances of the commission of the offence and its motive".
The Public Prosecutor's Office emphasises that the young woman "benefits from the presumption of innocence".
