Life sentence sought for Delphine Pinto, accused of ordering murder of her husband
The special assize court of Oise has sentenced Delphine Pinto to 30 years in prison for commissioning the assassination of her husband Jean-Christophe Piel in 2021.

The special assize court of Oise delivered its verdict in the early hours of Friday 12 June 2026. Delphine Pinto, aged 48, was found guilty of having organised the assassination of her spouse Jean-Christophe Piel and was sentenced to thirty years' criminal imprisonment. The tragedy occurred on 24 August 2021, when the victim was found dead at his home in Breuil-le-Sec, in the Oise department, having been shot in the head.
Yassine Zekri, the man who shot Jean-Christophe Piel on commission with a bullet to the back of the neck, was also sentenced to the same thirty-year term, accompanied by a two-thirds security period. On the eve of the verdict, the public prosecutor's representative had sought a life sentence for both defendants, with twenty-two years' security for each. In their final statements, the two accused maintained their innocence.
Delphine Pinto, who was in the process of separating from her victim, repeated in a weak voice that she had no connection with her husband's death. However, she had admitted a few days earlier that she may have wished for her husband's death and had shared this feeling with her lover.
Three other individuals were tried alongside the main defendants since 29 May. Delphine Pinto's lover received sixteen years in prison for knowingly facilitating the crime. Another man, found guilty of having supplied the weapon used and being in a state of legal recidivism, was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment, four years less than the prosecution's request. Delphine Pinto's son, born of a previous relationship, was acquitted of charges of complicity through failure to report, whilst the advocate general had sought four years' custodial sentence against him.
Several lawyers for the victim's relatives described the verdict as just and expressed their clients' satisfaction and relief. Some defence counsel are considering filing an appeal in cassation.
