The defender for Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan international Ashraf Hakimi must appear before French justice. The Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed that the sportsman will be tried by the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court for alleged rape of a young woman, which occurred in February 2023.
According to information from RMF24, it was at the end of February 2023 that a young woman presented herself at a police station in Val-de-Marne to report a rape. However, she had not filed an official complaint at that time.
The Nanterre prosecutor's office had then opened an investigation on its own initiative. After several months of proceedings, the magistrates referred the matter to the correctional tribunal. The accused's lawyers appealed this decision, but the higher court ultimately decided that the trial would indeed take place.
The person in question strongly contests the accusations against him. On social media, he described these allegations as "false" and expressed his impatience to finally be able to explain himself before the judges. "I have been waiting for this trial since day one. And now, I am waiting for it eagerly. I will finally be able to speak," he wrote.
Born in the Spanish capital, Hakimi made his professional debut at Real Madrid before gaining prominence under the colours of Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and especially PSG, where he signed in 2021. With the Parisian team, he achieved the historic treble in 2025, notably winning his first Champions League. He is also the captain of the Moroccan national team, which is currently competing in the World Cup.
