The Versailles appeal court delivered its decision Friday morning: the file concerning Achraf Hakimi is being referred to the criminal tribunal of the Hauts-de-Seine department. The 27-year-old defender, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Moroccan national side, must therefore answer to accusations of rape in France.
The facts date back to February 2023. A woman claims to have met the player via Instagram before going to his home. The sexual assault allegedly took place in his apartment. Hakimi formally denies these allegations.
In a statement published on social media, the defender said he had chosen silence for years, preserving his dignity and trusting in justice. He said he has become an easy target and is looking forward to the trial so he can finally present his version of events. For her part, the complainant's lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, welcomed the decision as "fully consistent with the elements of the case".
