Lyhanna's disappearance in Fleurance: Rosa's mother holds key to finding the body
Rosa's mother, an alleged victim of Jérôme Barella, reportedly guided investigators towards the silo where Lyhanna's body was found. She claims she was mistreated during questioning.
Lyhanna's murder in Gers: Audrey's decisive testimony
According to Le Figaro, it was largely thanks to the testimony of Audrey — mother of Rosa, herself an alleged victim of Jérôme Barella — that investigators were able to locate the body of Lyhanna, an 11-year-old girl who went missing in Fleurance, in the Gers department.
Following young Lyhanna's disappearance, investigators methodically searched through all the agricultural operations frequented by Jérôme Barella as part of his employment. It was in a silo in Fleurance that the child's body was finally discovered on 4 June. A lead which, according to information from Le Figaro, may owe little to chance.
Audrey reportedly guided the investigation, in particular by mentioning this silo to the authorities. Her daughter Rosa had herself been subjected to Barella's alleged acts several years earlier, when she was 10 years old.
On Thursday 3 September, Audrey was questioned in Toulouse by the divisional commissioner from Montpellier, in connection with the complaint she had filed on 3 July. This complaint targets magistrates for failure to assist a person in danger and deliberate endangerment of others' lives.
Audrey claims, however, to have been mistreated by investigators during the procedure, providing an account at odds with the official course of the investigation.
Jérôme Barella is suspected of being responsible for Lyhanna's murder. The case also raises questions about the follow-up given to previous reports concerning this man, at the heart of the complaint filed by Audrey against magistrates.
