On Wednesday morning, a motorist illegally used the bus lane on Andrássy Street, and when patrol officers attempted to stop him, he drove away – according to HVG, citing police information.

The man drove the vehicle across the Chain Bridge to the Buda side, where the escape continued. Following a chase lasting more than ten minutes, the driver first collided with two motorcycle patrols at Csónak Street, then reversed into a service vehicle.

Police officers apprehended the suspect at the scene. The motorcycle colleagues fortunately suffered no injuries, but the uniformed officer travelling in the service vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The authorities have not released further details about the incident at this time.
