The Central Investigation Office of the Prosecutor General has brought charges against Ferenc Biró, who is suspected of abuse of office, document forgery, and unfaithful management.

Criminal proceedings have commenced at the Pest Central District Court against the head of the Integrity Authority. The Central Investigation Office of the Prosecutor General brought charges against Ferenc Pál Biró for abuse of office, preparation of false documents, and unfaithful management causing significant damage to the authority's assets – according to Telex.
According to investigators, the chairman abused his position and committed several irregularities. The prosecution alleges that he caused nearly one hundred million forints in damage to the organisation by mishandling public funds. The prosecution therefore requested a custodial sentence and the seizure of 23 million forints in assets.
Ferenc Biró denies committing any crime. He believes the suspicion of unfaithful management and abuse of office is unfounded, and has therefore filed a complaint. In his view, proceedings against him are nothing more than personal revenge, aimed at obstructing the operation of the institution he leads.
The chairman discussed the matter on the television programme "Straight Talk". He stated that he submitted a detailed written statement comprising forty pages, and attached twenty pages of documents as evidence.
Biró is unwilling to step down from his post. He is confident in the independent court's decision. In his view, the charges are merely a distraction, and instead of discussing genuine abuses from the past period, they want to silence him.
