Tax Police Uncover Illegal Wage Payment Scheme; €12,270 Seized
Two persons – a company director and his subordinate employee – have come under the scrutiny of law enforcement in connection with unlawful employment payment practices. The Tax and Customs Police (TCP) are pursuing criminal prosecution against them for cash disbursements that were not registered in official records. The total sum exceeds twelve thousand euros.
The detention took place at the moment when the suspects were preparing to hand over money to employees. Operative officers acted promptly and prevented the completion of the offence.
The investigation into this case was initiated in July of last year. Police took the necessary measures to stop the unlawful activity at a company specialising in the assembly of plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
During a search carried out in Riga at the company's office premises, cash funds intended for employee payment without corresponding documentation were found. The discovered sum of €12,270 was seized and placed under arrest.
