Three men stalk and rob 1962-born man in Daugavpils
According to Apollo, the State Police have completed the investigation into a robbery that occurred in Daugavpils in late June this year. Three unidentified men placed a bag over the victim's head and stole a handbag containing personal items.
On 27 June, officers from the South Latgale branch of the Latgale Regional Department of the State Police received a report of an incident in a housing estate courtyard near a retail shop. The victim — a man born in 1962 — lost a handbag containing a personal passport, bank card, wristwatch and telephone.
During the investigation, it was established that the perpetrators had previously followed the victim and approached from behind. One of the men forcibly pulled a bag over the victim's head, whilst another snatched the handbag at the same time.
Police responded immediately. Two suspects were detained already on 27 June, with the third person detained later. All three were assigned a security measure not involving deprivation of liberty.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under the second part of section 176 of the Criminal Law — for robbery committed in a substantial amount or committed by a group of persons pursuant to prior agreement.
On 21 August this year, the criminal proceedings were referred to the prosecutor to initiate criminal prosecution.
The State Police remind that no person is considered guilty unless their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law.
