Following a serious assault on a train conductor on a route to Ķemeri, law enforcement has established the identity details of a young man under suspicion. The conductor was taken to hospital.

Law enforcement has established the identity details of a young man under suspicion after a train conductor was injured during the night into Saturday, according to Latvian Television, citing State Police representatives.
The incident, which occurred during the night of 5 to 6 June shortly after midnight, on a service from Riga (23.00) to Ķemeri (23.58) between the stops Sloka and Ķemeri, the assailant physically assaulted the train conductor and stole a bag belonging to the company from her, which contained money and work equipment.
The injured woman was taken to a medical facility. No other victims have been reported. The suspect exited at Ķemeri station at around 00.05. At the time of the assault, only the conductor and the assailant were in the carriage.
"Vivi" representative Sigita Paula acknowledged to the media that physical violence of this scale against an employee was unprecedented for the company. She explained that from time to time employees encounter aggressive passengers, but this typically manifests as verbal exchanges or minor shoving. Such a serious assault with such severe consequences had occurred for the first time.
Paula also said that her colleague is still receiving treatment, but her health condition is stable. Blood traces were visible at the scene of the incident.
The State Police is investigating the incident within the framework of a criminal procedure.
