Spalding man, 84, jailed 18 years for sexual offences against two children

William Lynas, 84, from Spalding, has been jailed for 18 years after being convicted of 13 sexual offences against two children spanning decades.

William Lynas, 84, from Spalding, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of 13 sexual offences against two children, bbc.co.uk reports.

The offences, which included assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, took place on several occasions between the 1980s and 2023. Lynas was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court.

Detective Constable Victoria Oaks, who led the investigation, said Lynas had previously denied all the offences but "caused real harm and will deservedly spend a long time behind bars."

In addition to the 18-year custodial term, Lynas received a further year on extended licence. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to an indefinite restraining order in relation to both victims.
