A 17-year-old is in custody on suspicion of second-degree murder after a man was shot and killed inside a Del City apartment in the early hours of Sunday, okcfox.com reports.
Officers were dispatched at around 4:25 a.m. to 3354 S. Bryant Ave. following a disturbance call. The caller reported hearing objects being thrown and a woman screaming — then five gunshots as police were approaching the scene.
Officers stopped two vehicles that were leaving the area at speed. Two adults and a juvenile were detained. Inside the apartment, police found Casteal Buckhanan, 44, unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to OU Health, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that a dispute had broken out between Buckhanan and an adult woman. During the altercation, the woman's 17-year-old son fired several shots inside the apartment, striking Buckhanan multiple times.
The juvenile was booked into a detention facility on complaints of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a child. Police have not released the juvenile's identity, as formal charges have not yet been filed.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation processed the scene. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in locating evidence, according to the Del City Police Department.
