Anthony was taken into custody within the city on September 18 — less than a week after the incident.
He faces three charges under Virginia law: attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
CPD Chief Mike Kochis credited the swift arrest to coordinated efforts between local, state, and federal agencies. "This arrest, in less than a week after the shooting, is a direct result of the outstanding collaboration between our community, our detectives and our federal partners," Kochis said. "When local, state, and federal law enforcement work together with this level of urgency and coordination, it sends a clear message that violence in our community will not be tolerated."
The department acknowledged the involvement of the United States Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Charlottesville Commonwealth's Attorney's Office in bringing the investigation to a close. Kochis added that he was "grateful to the U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI for standing shoulder to shoulder with us to get this individual off our streets quickly and safely."
