Dismembered human remains discovered in a plastic tub and several garbage bags have been identified as Shanteria Mosley, 26, a Georgia woman known to those close to her as "KT," fox17.com reports.

The Smyrna Police Department made the identification on Friday. Officers investigating a homicide had found what appeared to be a woman's remains inside garbage bags concealed in the trunk of a car. A medical examiner opened the bags at the scene and confirmed they contained body parts.

A female torso had separately been found inside a plastic tub at a nearby apartment, police said.

Kingston Bradley, 18, who had already been charged with concealing the death of another person, will now also face a malice murder charge in connection with the case, according to police. Authorities did not disclose how Mosley died.

Mosley's aunt, Michelle Weaver, told Atlanta broadcaster 11Alive that her niece had left home that morning to make DoorDash deliveries. When relatives could not reach her, they began tracking her phone and searching for her themselves.

Weaver directed sharp criticism at the Smyrna Police Department over their handling of the investigation.

"I just want our story to get out, and I just want Smyrna police to have the correct facts where it all began at, what time it began, the time frame," Weaver told the outlet. "Don't say y'all found her. Her family found her. Y'all didn't do nothing. Y'all left us. You guys left us to do it ourselves."

Police have not responded publicly to her remarks.
