Fraternity president and VP arrested for hazing at UW-Madison
Madison police arrested two leaders of the unrecognised Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity after finding 30 partially clothed men in a hot basement. The investigation is ongoing.

Madison Police Department officers arrested the president and vice president of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Wednesday evening following an anonymous tip, spectrumnews1.com reports.
Officers arrived at the fraternity house on the 100 block of Langdon Street at 8:20 p.m. and found approximately 30 partially clothed men in the basement, covered in food, condiments and other liquids. Police noted the room was hot and humid, with a thermostat set to 81 degrees Fahrenheit.
Most of the men in the basement were 18 years old. Several had visible injuries consistent with physical assault, according to police. Officers declared the event unlawful, moved everyone outside and evaluated pledges for incapacitation and injuries.
Brayden J. Klein, 20, and Samuel N. Vane, 20, were arrested and taken to Dane County Jail on allegations of hazing and disorderly conduct. Klein is the fraternity's president and Vane its vice president, both of whom were present at the scene.
Madison Police Captain Kipp Hartman said cooperation from the men was "limited." He added that he believes all those present are UW-Madison students.
Alpha Epsilon Pi is not a recognised student organisation at UW-Madison. The university terminated it in 2015 for violating the student organisation code of conduct, following a multi-semester suspension. UW-Madison describes "unrecognised" fraternities and sororities as organisations that choose to exist off campus and do not follow university policies, regulations or the requirements of their governing council.
UW-Madison met with national Alpha Epsilon Pi officials on Thursday in connection with the incident. The university said the national chapter is cooperating, and Madison police indicated they would also be in contact with it.
The university urged students not to join or participate in any activity sponsored by unrecognised Greek-life organisations.
