A missing child from Texas has been rescued after being trafficked for prostitution in Lake Charles, Louisiana, kplctv.com reports. Two Texas residents now face human trafficking charges following the operation.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives received a tip from federal authorities on Wednesday indicating the child was believed to be in the Lake Charles area. Investigators located the child, who was subsequently placed into the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Deputies arrested Sara E. Palacios, 48, of Houston, and Justin C. Momah, 36, of Sugar Land, Texas. Both were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of human trafficking and trafficking of children for sexual purposes. Bond amounts remain pending.

Authorities noted that Momah is a registered sex offender in Texas, carrying a 2022 felony conviction for aggravated promotion of prostitution. He is currently on parole until 2032.

The investigation drew on support from the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force, the CPSO Special Operations Group, the CPSO Real Time Crime Center, and Homeland Security Investigations.
