Georgetown Man Arrested for Felony Theft of HVAC Units in Sussex County

Georgetown Resident Charged After HVAC Units Stolen from Home and Church

Delaware State Police have arrested William Pusey, 46, of Georgetown, on felony theft and related charges, dsp.delaware.gov reported on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The investigation began on September 15, 2026, when troopers were called to a newly constructed residence in the 19000 block of West Piney Grove Road in Georgetown at approximately 8:55 a.m. An unknown suspect had removed an HVAC unit from the property. Later that same day, a second report came in from Spirit of Excellence Church at 31195 Dupont Boulevard in Dagsboro, where another HVAC unit had been taken.

Through investigative work, detectives identified Pusey as the suspect responsible for both thefts. He had transported the stolen units to a local scrap yard, where he signed documents and received payment for them.

Pusey was arrested on September 18, 2026, and brought to Troop 4. Following arraignment by the Justice of the Peace, he was committed to the Department of Correction on a $5,002 secured bond.

Any individual charged is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
