Georgia Teen Charged with Murder After Dismembered Remains Found in Car Trunk

Smyrna police in Georgia charged 18-year-old Kingston Lammar Bradley with malice murder on Friday after trash bags containing dismembered human remains were found in the trunk of his car, foxnews.com reports.

The discovery began when witnesses spotted Bradley walking through his apartment complex carrying a container. When he noticed he had been seen, he dropped the container and fled into his apartment, Smyrna Police Lieutenant Meredith Holt said at a news conference Friday.

Witnesses called police after finding human remains inside the container. Officers returned to Bradley's home with a search warrant for his vehicle and found a garbage bag pulled tightly, "showing the outline of a body part," according to a departmental news release. The Cobb County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the bags contained human remains.

Prior police contact went unresolved

Police had previously responded to Bradley's apartment after a missing woman's family reported that her car and phone were at the location. At that time, officers did not execute a search warrant, Holt said.

Smyrna Police Chief Keith Zgonc identified the victim as Shanteria "KT" Mosley, whose family had reported her missing. Holt confirmed Mosley was a DoorDash delivery worker. The company told police she had not been working on the day she went missing, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. DoorDash told People Magazine her account was last active on Tuesday.

Police said they do not yet know what connection Bradley had to Mosley.

"A particularly gruesome crime"

Holt, a 25-year law enforcement veteran, described the case as unlike anything she had previously encountered.

"This is a shocking crime, I don't know how else to describe it. I've been in law enforcement for 25 years and I have been a part of multiple homicide cases and I've worked crimes against children for 16 years, and this is a particularly gruesome crime," she said.

"I cannot imagine what the family is going through," Holt added.

Holt said police had responded to Bradley's apartment on multiple prior occasions for domestic disputes, but that nothing in those encounters suggested he was capable of a crime of this nature.

Bond denied; additional charges filed

Bradley appeared in Cobb County Magistrate Court, where a judge denied him bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for October. He faces an additional charge of concealing the death of a person.

Police said they are continuing to actively search for further human remains.
