Hesperia man held without bail after meth, gun and drugs found in Big Bear traffic stop

A 51-year-old Hesperia man was arrested Saturday night near Big Bear after deputies found a loaded handgun and roughly two pounds of suspected methamphetamine in his vehicle.

A 51-year-old Hesperia man was arrested late Saturday night after San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies allegedly found a loaded handgun, approximately two pounds of suspected methamphetamine, and a range of other narcotics inside his vehicle during a traffic stop in Big Bear, vvng.com reports.

The stop took place at around 9:57 p.m. on Saturday, 19 September 2026, near the junction of Highway 18 and Delta Road. Deputies initially pulled the vehicle over for multiple traffic violations before identifying the driver as Oscar Gonzalez, a resident of Hesperia.

Upon establishing that Gonzalez was on parole, deputies conducted a parole search of the vehicle. Inside a backpack, they reported finding a loaded handgun alongside roughly two pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

The search also yielded multiple Xanax, fentanyl and opioid pills, black tar heroin, fentanyl powder, psychedelic mushrooms, weighing scales, and a large amount of cash, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Gonzalez was arrested and booked on allegations of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drugs for sale, and violation of parole. He was being held without bail at the time of the department's statement.
