Memphis woman confesses to fatal abuse of 3-year-old boy

A 29-year-old Memphis woman has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect following the death of a 3-year-old boy, kyoutv.com reports.

Dominica Mosby, identified as the father's girlfriend, was taken into custody after the child's father called 911 last Saturday when he found the boy unresponsive at a residence in the area. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court records cited by kyoutv.com show that Mosby initially told police she had put the boy to bed after he fell ill. She later confessed to homicide investigators that she had inflicted severe abuse on the child, including placing a lit cigarette in his ear and burning his genitals after he urinated on the floor. She also admitted to repeatedly beating, stomping and hitting him on his torso and chest when he did not comply with her instructions.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as homicide. An autopsy revealed lacerations to the liver, internal bleeding in the stomach, bruising on the torso, and burns to the ear and genitals.

The child's aunt told investigators she had previously noticed injuries on the boy.

Mosby is currently held without bond while awaiting her next court appearance.
