A Mobile County jury has found 20-year-old Adrien Thompson guilty of felony murder in the shooting death of Jermonte Brown, fox10tv.com reports. The verdict follows a trial over events on 25 May 2024, when prosecutors say Thompson robbed and killed Brown at an abandoned house in the 1800 block of Duncan Street.

According to investigators, Thompson lured Brown to a dice game at the property with the intention of robbing him, believing Brown had cheated him in an earlier game. He brought a firearm and initiated the sequence of events that ended in Brown's death.

Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood issued a statement following the verdict: "Jermonte Brown lost his life over a few hundred dollars. Thompson planned the robbery, brought a gun and set in motion the events that led to Brown's death. This verdict holds him accountable for the deadly consequences of his actions."

A judge has scheduled sentencing for November. Thompson faces a prison term of 20 years to life. A co-defendant, Dennis Lamar III, is set to stand trial in December.
