A 33-year-old woman from Pascagoula has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Highway 90 in Gautier, Mississippi, wlox.com reports.

Officers from the Gautier Police Department responded to reports of an altercation and gunfire around 5 p.m. on Friday, 18 September, near the Gautier-Vancleave Road intersection.

During the incident, an 18-year-old woman was assaulted and a 20-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound. The man was transported to hospital and was last reported in critical condition.

Police identified the suspect as Regina Joe and charged her with aggravated assault, simple assault, discharging a firearm within city limits, disturbance in a public place, no proof of liability insurance, driving with a suspended licence, and obstructing a public street.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities indicated that additional charges are possible.
