Convicted murderer Mason Jenkins escapes Collins Bay Institution in Kingston

Kingston Police are searching for 49-year-old Mason Jenkins, a lifer for first-degree murder, who walked away from a minimum-security unit on Sept. 24.

Lifer missing from minimum-security unit at Collins Bay

Kingston Police launched an active search on September 24 after a convicted murderer was discovered missing during a routine morning count at Collins Bay Institution, thewhig.com reports.

According to the Correctional Service of Canada, staff were conducting a formal count at 11:15 a.m. when they found that 49-year-old Mason Jenkins was unaccounted for.

Jenkins is described as a white male, five-foot-nine and approximately 255 pounds, with a fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair currently shaved bald. He was last seen wearing a light green jacket, blue jeans and rubber boots.

He is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and trafficking.

Authorities have advised the public not to approach Jenkins under any circumstances. Anyone who spots him is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately. Tips on his whereabouts can also be directed to Kingston Police at 613-549-4660, ext. 0.
