Life-sentence inmate Mason Jenkins missing from Collins Bay Institution in Kingston

A 49-year-old man serving life for murder has gone missing from a minimum-security unit in Kingston. Police warn the public not to approach him.

Kingston Police are hunting for a missing inmate after he failed to appear during a routine headcount at Collins Bay Institution on Thursday morning, ctvnews.ca reports.

Mason Jenkins, 49, is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and drug trafficking. He was unaccounted for during the 11:15 a.m. count at the facility's minimum-security unit, according to a police news release.

Jenkins is described as a white male, approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall and 255 pounds, with brown eyes. Though he normally has brown hair, he is currently shaved bald. He was last seen wearing a light green jacket, blue jeans and rubber boots.

Police are urging the public not to approach Jenkins if spotted. Anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately.
