Ontario man charged after Hamilton police probe antisemitic X account

A 27-year-old man from Stoney Creek, Ontario, was arrested last Wednesday and charged with three hate-related offences following a months-long investigation into antisemitic content posted publicly on X/Twitter, jpost.com reports.

Hamilton Police's Hate Crime Unit opened the inquiry in July 2025 after receiving a complaint about material on the account. Investigators examined the posts over several months before identifying Simran Mander as the person believed to be operating the profile.

After obtaining the required consent of the attorney-general to proceed, police took Mander into custody. He now faces charges of willful promotion of hatred, willful promotion of antisemitism, and advocating genocide.

In a statement, the Hamilton Police Service acknowledged the serious impact hate crimes can have on individuals and communities, and confirmed the force remains committed to investigating hate-motivated incidents and holding perpetrators accountable.

The allegations have not yet been proven in court. Police are asking anyone who believes they have witnessed or been a victim of a hate crime to contact local investigators or reach out to Crime Stoppers.
