Two arrested in downtown Vancouver after stairwell exposure and stranger attacks
Two men face charges after separate incidents in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday and Thursday. One was arrested for indecent exposure at Pacific Centre Mall, the other for assaulting strangers.
Two men charged after separate incidents rock downtown Vancouver
Two men are in custody following unrelated incidents in downtown Vancouver that unfolded within 16 hours of each other, Vancouver Sun Crime reports.
On Wednesday evening, security staff at Pacific Centre Mall encountered a man allegedly masturbating in a stairwell and asked him to leave. The man then exposed himself before being escorted out of the building. Security personnel followed him and alerted police, tracking him until Vancouver Police Department (VPD) officers arrived to make the arrest.
Robert Finlay MacLeod, 51, has been charged with performing an indecent act in public and remains in custody pending a bail hearing. His next scheduled court appearance is September 17.
Less than 16 hours later, shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, a man allegedly punched a stranger in the face near Seymour and Georgia streets. Over the course of that morning and into the early afternoon, police allege the same individual spat in a man's face near Davie and Granville streets, then repeated the act on another man near Georgia and Hamilton streets.
Officers located and arrested a suspect around 1 p.m. in connection with all three incidents.
Gregory Edwin Lawrence Brumwell, 45, remains in police custody after being charged with three counts of assault. The incidents appear to have been unprovoked, according to police.
Charges are pending in both cases.
