Kingston man, 33, charged with impaired driving after failing roadside breath test
A 33-year-old Kingston driver was arrested early September 5 after police stopped a speeding vehicle on Portsmouth Ave and recorded a breath test failure.
Speeding vehicle stopped on Portsmouth Ave leads to impaired driving charges
According to kingstonpolice.ca, officers from the Kingston Police Patrol Division spotted a vehicle travelling southbound on Portsmouth Avenue at high speed at around 1:00 a.m. on September 5, 2026.
The vehicle was pulled over near the intersection of Portsmouth Avenue and Churchill Street. Officers spoke with the driver and formed grounds to demand a breath sample into an approved alcohol screening device.
The sample returned a "Fail" reading.
The 33-year-old Kingston resident was subsequently arrested and charged with impaired operation, impaired operation exceeding the legal blood alcohol concentration, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
The driver was taken to Kingston Police headquarters and later released pending a future court date.
