An organisation engaged in the illegal trade of narcotics suffered a decisive blow following a federal and provincial operation that was deployed simultaneously at multiple points in the centre and east of the country. The investigation, which demanded nearly twelve months of work, resulted in the detention of fifteen individuals and the seizure of substantial material linked to the criminal activity.
The inquiries began in mid-2024, when officers from the "Buenos Aires" Judicial Investigation Squad began gathering information about the gang's operations. The progress of the investigations led the Federal Court of First Instance based in Villa Mercedes to order a series of raids that were executed in recent hours.
According to details provided by Argentina.gob.ar, the federal security force carried out twenty searches, whilst the local police were responsible for eight others. The procedures were carried out at five addresses in Buenos Aires province, fourteen in San Luis and one in the capital of the country.
The result of the operation yielded eleven people detained by Gendarmería personnel and four more apprehended by the provincial force. In the raided premises, significant quantities of illicit substances were found: just over four hundred grams of cocaine, one hundred and seventy grams of marijuana and four cannabis plants at different stages of growth.
The financial haul was considerable. The agents seized just over six million Argentine pesos, nearly eighteen thousand US dollars and three hundred and twenty euros. Nine firearms were also recovered, one hundred and forty-two rounds of ammunition, twenty-eight mobile phones, six notebooks, twelve motor vehicles, seven motorcycles, five portable storage devices, two high-precision weighing instruments and papers that could provide key information about the organisation's structure.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the federal magistrate in Villa Mercedes, who will have to determine the procedural situation of each of the detainees based on the evidence gathered during the raids.
