Arrest of alleged Peruvian drug trafficker fugitive and five accomplices in Mugica neighbourhood

An operation by the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) resulted in six arrests in the Padre Carlos Mugica neighbourhood in Retiro: the main detainee is a Peruvian citizen identified as "Jhimmy", alleged leader of an organisation dedicated to the collection, processing and distribution of narcotics, according to elliberal.com.ar.

The operation was carried out by the Federal Investigation Department (DFI) and was part of an investigation that began in late 2024. In total, PFA officers conducted 12 coordinated raids: 11 at residences in the Padre Carlos Mugica neighbourhood and one in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Congreso.

The origin of the case: two kilos of cocaine and a woman detained in Villa 31

The investigation began in December 2024, following an operation by the City Police in Villa 31 in which a woman was arrested and more than two kilos of cocaine hydrochloride were seized. Based on that discovery, National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 1, headed by judge María Romilda Servini, ordered the investigation to be deepened to determine the origin and destination of the drug and identify those responsible.

The investigation was placed in the hands of the Anti-fraud Division of the Federal Police's Superintendency of Federal Investigations. Investigators carried out field work and analysed evidence that allowed them to reconstruct the movements of the suspects and establish the role of each member of the structure.

"Jhimmy": false identity and irregular entry into the country

According to the investigation, "Jhimmy" was the person behind the drug seized in December and who coordinated distribution in the Mugica neighbourhood and surrounding areas. Detectives determined that the suspect was a fugitive from justice, was using a false identity and had entered the country through an unauthorised border crossing.

The other five alleged members detained include two men of Argentine nationality and three women of Argentine, Peruvian and Paraguayan nationality. Each reportedly carried out different functions within the organisation, linked to the storage, processing and sale of narcotics. The investigation also detected money transfers to digital wallets from alleged sales.

Seizure: nine million pesos, dollars, euros and twenty mobile phones

During the raids, investigators seized doses of marijuana, a vehicle and more than 9 million pesos in cash, mainly in low-denomination banknotes. Dollars and euros were also seized, a laptop computer, 20 mobile phones and documentation that will be subjected to expert analysis to determine its connection to the case.

The six detainees are adults and were placed at the disposal of the courts. The case remains under the jurisdiction of Federal Court No. 1; the defendants were initially charged with violations of the National Drug Law 23.737.
