Georgian citizen arrested in Palermo for migration fraud with Interpol red notice
Argentine Federal Police arrested a 28-year-old Georgian in Buenos Aires who was wanted internationally for being part of a migration fraud network.

Argentine Federal Police (PFA) detained a 28-year-old Georgian citizen in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Palermo against whom an Interpol red notice had been issued for aggravated fraud, abcdiario.com.ar reported.
The arrested man is identified as a member of a criminal organisation that recruited, through social media, Georgian citizens interested in emigrating to the United States. The network offered migration services in exchange for money.
Following changes in United States migration policy, the organisation reoriented its offer towards obtaining Canadian visas through fraudulent intermediaries, causing economic damage of thousands of dollars to its victims.
The judicial authorities of Georgia issued the Interpol red notice in response to these facts, which enabled the international search for the suspect. The investigation was placed under the charge of the PFA's Division of Federal Investigation of Fugitives and Extraditions, which conducted intelligence work, database analysis and social media analysis, and maintained information exchange with the Central National Office (OCN) Tbilisi.
The inquiries made it possible to locate the man at a residence in the Palermo neighbourhood. Officers identified and apprehended him on Soler Street at number 3800.
By order of the National Court of Criminal and Correctional Matters Number 9, under the charge of judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi, the detainee's residence was subsequently searched. The operation was coordinated with the Department of Homeland Security of the United States.
During the procedure, passports, documentation in the Georgian language, a notebook and a mobile telephone were seized, items which will form part of the extradition case file.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of Argentine Justice pending the corresponding extradition process.
