The district court in Louny dealt with a case of animal cruelty from the village of Rohožec in the Podborany district. The fifty-five-year-old Jiří Svoboda bound his dog's muzzle and paws with electrical tape because the animal's barking and howling disturbed him. He then left the animal alone in an abandoned building for several days.

An exhausted and injured dog was discovered by a neighbour woman. The case subsequently came to court, where the man initially denied the accusations but later changed his testimony and admitted to everything.

The judge imposed a conditional sentence on him and banned him from keeping any animal for five years. The ruling is not yet final.
